 Minibus Appeal
Our current minibus has served us well for many years, taking Cadets to events all over the UK. Sadly it's useful life has nearly come to an end and we are increasingly in need of a replacement.
We have worked and saved hard for the funds to purchase a replacement minibus for the exclusive use of our Cadets. We are most of the way to our target, but we still need some help!
• Why is a minibus so important to the Squadron?
We use our minibus for transporting Cadets and equipment to numerous activities from Camping to Flying, from attendance at the Farnborough Air Show to annual parades in Godalming and beyond. Without it we would be entirely dependent on parent's and staff to use their vehicles. With it we can all get from A to B at the same time, reliably and with a sense of pride and bonding that defines us as a Squadron.
For the Cadets the minibus is an integral part of their equipment - it represents their independence and freedom and supports their personal development during their time with the Squadron in immeasurable ways.
• Our ideal minibus
- 17 Seats (the maximum our Staff can drive on standard licences)
- 4 years old - we don't do a lot of miles so we don't need a brand new vehicle. This means we can avoid the largest depreciation element.
- Diesel - cheaper to run!
• How much do you need to buy the minibus?
So far we have raised about £7,000. It's not quite enough to buy the vehicle we would ideally like on the open market. Typical prices for our ideal vehicle are around £10,000.
• Are you looking for sponsorship?
Yes. While we are working toward the 'cash' target we are also looking for sponsorship deals with local minibus suppliers. Ideally, on a £10,000 vehicle we would like to find a supplier who would be willing to sponsor us a 25% to 50% discount on the cost of purchase in return for advertising on the vehicle for the time it is with us. Under normal circumstances this would be for about 7 years.
Alternatively, for the same sponsorship on the bus, we are hoping to find a supplier that might be willing to sell us a minibus at trade-in price.
• We are not a minibus supplier - can we still sponsor you?
Yes! We are equally happy to accept sponsorship or donations directly toward our minibus funds from any company or individual who wishes to help.
